It is hard to believe that it has been 5 weeks since Casey's birth! We have been meaning to start a blog since before he was born...but it always seemed to be last on the "To-Do" list. Our plan was to post from birth to current...but now with five weeks already past, the amount of pictures and video are a bit overwhelming. So we decided to just do some highlights from the past month. We are hoping it will be updated frequently.
We are thoroughly enjoying every minute with our little man.
Here are some of the happenings from the last month. Enjoy!!
Casey Sleeps
He is spending more time awake during the day, and he is sleeping about 6-7 hours a night (which mom is loving). Naps during the day are a little bit more difficult. Casey likes to take it all in, and does not seem to want to miss anything. He definitely will fight off sleep, but after some good eats, a good swaddle, a "paci" and lots of rocking, bouncing and singing...he does enjoy his naps! (As you can see Mike and I are often ready for a nap too!)
Casey's First Sponge Bath
Almost made it through without any tears. Mom took pictures and video, while Dad did the bath.
Casey's First Bath (in the tub)
He liked the tub a lot better than the sponge. No tears here, just lots of splashing!
Casey's First Walk (in a stroller)
The first walk was just "around the loop" as we call it (about 4 blocks). We have since increased our walks to about 2 miles. Casey does great. Although if he is awake he will fuss on an incline without fail...it is so funny. Many times Mike has started his morning walks with Casey and Sadie on the uphill, and here is how that story goes.
Casey starts to cry...Mike thinks well maybe this isn't a good idea and turns back for home...Casey stops crying...Mike thinks well maybe I will keep going and turns back up the hill...Casey starts crying...Mike thinks better turn back for home...Casey stops crying...
So now, unless he is already sleeping, we always try to start the walk on level ground or on a decline. Sometimes that is not possible...in which case we do the "paci" stroller shuffle (push the stroller while leaning over the handle to insert his "paci").
Faces of Casey
Casey's Tricks
Casey learned to take a pacifier when he was a day old. He now takes a "paci" like a pro. Sometimes he even grabs ahold of it to make sure it doesn't fall out. Casey also turned from his tummy to his back, and mom caught it on video!
Sadie's Baby Casey
Sadie has been wonderful with Casey. She is very attentive to his cries. She has not shown one bit of jealously. We are very proud of her!
Casey's Photo Shoot
This is just a taste of the first of many photo shoots with Grandma. My mom and I got things set up. Then I made sure Casey had a full tummy. We turned up the heat in the house (to keep him asleep) and then the photo shoot began. We had a lot of fun!
Casey Wrap
Casey snoozing in the Moby Wrap. The Moby is a VERY long piece of fabric that is wrapped around your body and then you insert the baby. It is very comfortable, and he likes it because he is able to stretch out his legs. The wrap can be used for children from birth to 35 lbs, and there are many different ways to carry them. Casey is in the "Cradle" position. I love being able to do my chores around the house and still feel close to him. He enjoys being in the wrap, and the rocking and bouncing from walking often puts him right to sleep. The video shows a full body shot of the wrap.
More to come!!
